Freedom Day Announced From Isolation

Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to self-isolate after his health secretary had tested positive for coronavirus, and therefore he made his “Freedom Day” statement via “Zoom or Teams or something else”. And his message on lifting the Covid-19 restrictions was a very contradictory one, as he appeared to be saying: I’ve given you back your freedoms – but for pity’s sake, please don’t use them.

Furthermore the Prime Minister said that nightclubs and other venues with large crowds are set to be legally forced to adopt Covid passports from the end of September in a bid to drive up vaccine uptake among younger people. By the end of September everybody over 18 should have had the chance to get fully vaccinated, according to the Prime Minister.

In a reversal of his previous stance, Boris Johnson has become convinced that such virus status checks should be legally mandated for clubs and maybe also for sports venues. This would most likely be done by showing the NHS app, which is being updated to show proof of status.
