Semifinale!!!

Three comments from The Times: David Moyes eyes the big prize after outstanding West Ham embarrass Lyons
“Amazing, this actually happened, I thought I was dreaming! What a performance, what a result, what a team. David Moyes, take a bow. Beyond proud of every single player tonight.” (Richard)
“Shame on me: I thought West Ham would roll over in this match, with their thin squad finally found out by injuries and a suspension. 55 years of supporting the Hammers has obviously taken its toll.” (Gerry)
“So proud of this team. They picked themselves up after the dire performance against Brentford, and knowing they would have to win at Lyons, they gave everything and were full of belief! I had thought that the thin squad with a patch-up defense would maybe take its toll, but everyone was magnificent! Now bring on Eintracht, come on you Irons!” (Wolfgang)
Perfect start into second half!

Jarrod Bowen scores West Ham’s third (48’), now West Ham can start to dream of their first semifinal within 46 years.
The semi will be played against Eintracht Frankfurt on 28 April / 5 May 2022. Frankfurt also lead 3-0 at Barcelona, and in the end win 3-2.
West Ham eliminated Eintracht Frankfurt in 1976 in the semifinal of the Cupwinners’ Cup on their way to the final against Anderlecht in Brussels.

Now West Ham face two Austrians in the semifinal: Oliver Glasner is the manager of Eintracht and defender Martin Hinteregger is Frankfurt’s Number 13.

Eintracht last played in the Europa League semifinal only three years ago: in 2019 they drew twice with Chelsea (1–1), but the Germans, managed by Austrian Adi Hütter, lost the penalty shoot-out. Chelsea then beat Arsenal 4-1 in an all English final in Baku.
Dawson heads Hammers in front

… against Olympique Lyon in the 38th minute, and Declan Rice scores a second goal, just minutes before the interval (44′)!
West Ham XI: Areola, Coufal, Dawson, Diop, Johnson, Soucek, Rice, Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals, Antonio.
West Ham lead Lyon 2-0, West Ham are massive!
And so are Eintracht Frankfurt. They lead with exactly the same score at the Camp Nou in Barcelona.
