Play-off finals to start

The first of the English Football League play-off finals at Wembley (which will be played from today until Sunday, 1 June) is the Championship play-off final between Sheffield Utd and Sunderland (Saturday, 3:01 p.m.). The winner of this most important game will be promoted to the Premier League. Sunderland have not been in Premier League since 2017, Sheffield United was relegated last season.

Wimbledon‘s Sam Hutchinson most probably won’t be able to play in his club’s final on Monday following his heart attack which he suffered during Wimbledon’s game against Grimsby Town.

The Wembley finals to follow next week are:

League One: Charlton v Leyton O., 25 May League Two: Wimbledon v Walsall, 26 May
National League: Oldham v Southend, 1 June

Will Southend Utd be promoted to League Two?The “Shrimpers” finished only seventh in the National League, but beat Rochdale and Forest Green Rovers in the qualifying round and the semifinal to reach the Wembley showdown.
