England win 3rd place

Following the defeat in the semifinal, with winning the bronze final against France, England have had their best World Cup since 1966. Whatever criticism Thomas Tuchel received after the Argentina defeat he deserves to keep his job and the chance to put things right in 2028 at the next Euros.

After the final whistle France and England players were huddled near the halfway line praying. Very different atmosphere to the Argentina defeat three days ago in Atlanta. The stadium loudspeakers were playing “Wonderwall“ here for a last time.
